What is a Fire Risk Assessment?
A fire risk assessment is a thorough look at your building or environment to spot fire hazards and ensure steps are in place to prevent a fire. It’s all about keeping people, property, and surroundings safe.
The process includes:
-
Fire hazards: Identifying anything that could ignite, like flammable materials.
-
People at risk: Determining who might be in danger, such as employees or visitors, and how to protect them.
-
Fire safety measures: Ensuring alarms, fire extinguishers, clear escape routes, and properly working fire doors.
-
Emergency planning: Making sure there’s a clear plan for what to do if a fire occurs.
This helps minimize fire risks and ensures everyone knows what to do in an emergency. It’s a smart and often legally required approach to keeping your environment safe.
In the UK, fire risk assessments are a legal requirement. If you're responsible for a building, you need to assess fire risks, identify hazards, and take steps to reduce them. PDM Fire offers professional fire risk assessments in the Midlands area. Our qualified team provides clear and thorough reports that follow PAS 79 standards, making it easy to understand and act on. Why do you need a Fire Risk Assesment?
In short, a fire risk assessment is more than just a formality
it’s a key part of maintaining a safe, compliant, and thriving business.

Safety first
A fire risk assessment aims to ensure safety by identifying and addressing potential hazards, protecting employees and customers. A safer environment promotes comfort and productivity, demonstrating your commitment to everyone’s well-being.

It's the Law
All businesses must conduct regular fire risk assessments to comply with legal requirements. This not only helps avoid fines but also demonstrates a commitment to safety. Neglecting this can result in legal issues and harm your reputation.

Preventing Costly Damages
Fires can severely damage your property and assets. A fire risk assessment helps identify risks early, enabling preventive measures that can save your business from costly repairs and losses.

Minimising Disruption
Fires can halt your operations, leading to lost revenue and customers. A risk assessment helps implement safety measures, minimizing the risk of disruptions.

Insurance Benefits
Insurance companies value businesses that prioritize fire safety. A current fire risk assessment reduce premiums and simplify claims, demonstrating to insurers that you are managing risks effectively.

Peace of Mind
A fire risk assessment provides peace of mind by ensuring your business is protected with the right safety measures, allowing you to focus on other aspects of operations without worry.
